A brief history of WBR

Brad Williams, along with his two sons Matt and Chris, began Williams Brothers Racing five years ago out of a deep seeded love of motorcycle racing. In his other life, Brad Williams owns a construction company in hometown Bakersfield, California. He specializes in large concrete projects such as pipe lines and flood control channels. He also is active in developing communities in the Greater Bakersfield area.

Brad had been a major backer of the Triple-X team until the bug struck him to start his own team. He hired Troy Adams to ride the first year and Team WBR was a reality. In 2005 WBR signed an agreement with Suzuki to race the RMZ250Z and with Yoshimura R&D to build the motors.

The 2005/2006 team was made up of young talent that was unfortunately besieged with injuries ending up with a disappointing year with only a few stellar moments.

The team, however, had a good infrastructure and plenty of support talent to grab the attention of Rockstar Energy Drink. Rockstar was looking to back a growth team in the 250 as well as the 450 class. They found a match with Team WBR. This new team is part of Rockstar's aggressive commitment to Supercross/Motocross racing. Suzuki amp'd up its backing as well as engine support sponsor Yoshimura R&D. Just as the ink was drying, a new crop of riders were being hand selected from a talented pool of top notch racers.

This year's team will consist of Troy Adams, Kelly Smith, and Andrew McFarlane in the Supercross Lites division; Michael Byrne will compete in the 450 Supercross Class, then switch to the Lites Class for the Outdoors Nationals.

Tony Sulek will be returning to the team as the Rockstar/WBR/Suzuki Team Manager and Scott Budzynski has been promoted to the team Crew Chief. The team mechanics will be James Coy (Andrew McFarlane), Jason Sides (Kelly Smith), Jason Thomas (Michael Byrne), and Marcus Shay (Troy Adams). Brendan McConnachie has signed on as the team's Support Tech. Multi-time Arenacross Champion, Buddy Antunez will work closely with Tony to act as a liaison between WBR and Suzuki. Buddy will also act as the rider coach.

Jason Thomas was added as a team coordinator, Jim Dickey and Will Bastian will be driving the Rockstar/WBR/Suzuki semis.

The pieces are all in place, now (as Brad always says)... "Let's Go Race!"
